Frequently Asked Questions
.Q: What makes an Elyria Weddings film look different?
A: It comes down to the glass. Most wedding videographers use standard photography zoom lenses for convenience, but I take a more deliberate approach to achieve a true film aesthetic. I use professional cinema lenses—the same type of glass found on movie sets—to capture your day.
By choosing cinema-grade glass over everyday photo gear, we’re able to create a distinct widescreen look with a depth and texture that standard equipment just can't replicate. We film in a high-resolution professional format, giving us the latitude to apply an expert color grade that ensures your film feels polished, intentional, and timeless.
Q: Do you travel for weddings outside of Melbourne?
A: Absolutely. While I'm based in Melbourne, I’m available to travel for weddings across Australia and internationally. Whether it’s a local vineyard or a destination celebration, we bring the same high-end production kit and tailored approach to every location.
Q: How do you handle filming if we’re nervous on camera?
A: My process is designed to be completely unobtrusive. I work alongside a second professional cinematographer to ensure we cover every angle—from the big moments to the smallest candid details—without ever feeling like a massive camera crew is in your way.
Most of the day, we’re just observing the natural energy of the room. If the light is perfect or I see a flattering angle, I’ll step in with a gentle nudge to guide you, but for the most part, we want you to just relax and enjoy the day while we handle the artistry.
Q: How long does it take to receive our films?
A: Crafting a film with this much detail requires a dedicated post-production process. I focus on meticulous colour grading and intentional storytelling rather than a rushed turnaround. You can typically expect your highlight film and full collections within 8–12 weeks, depending on the season.
However, I know how exciting it is to share the day with your friends and family while the energy is still high. Because of this, we prioritize your 30-second reels, delivering those within 1–2 weeks of the wedding. This ensures you have high-impact, cinematic content to share across social media while I continue the deeper work on your main feature film.
Q: How is the music chosen?
A: Music is the foundation of the cinematic experience. I spend a significant amount of time sourcing licensed scores that capture the specific energy of your day, rather than just using mainstream radio hits.
This is a deliberate choice for two reasons: it gives your film a timeless sound, and it protects you from copyright filters. Popular songs are often flagged and muted by Instagram or Facebook, but by using professional, licensed music, you can share your film anywhere with the peace of mind that it will never be silenced or removed.
